000: First 3 Chapters Are Written (sort of)
First raw and chaotic draft

Book Newsletter 000
Semiotics for Designers and Illustrators (2026)
Semiotics for Designers and Illustrators will have three sections and nine chapters (three per section). The content will take three distinct forms too. Each chapter will feature a main body of content, written in designer- and illustrator-centric language (about 5,000 words per chapter), and supported by box outs of Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory using his terms), with a case study on applying Peircean pragmatic semiotic theory (2,000 words).
The book’s premise being that the creative reader will understand the principles of semiotic sign-action - Semiosis - in plain language, in academic language AND with visual examples.
Yes, triadically speaking, the number three will do a lot of heaving structuring of my content, just as “threes” (or triads) are crucial to Peirce’s Semiosis.
Currently, my section 1 draft is 20,000 words of rawness. I am going in with my highlighter …I may be gone some time!
This newsletter is free, however Semiosis 101 Semiotic Resources is reader-supported. To receive more exclusive posts and content, please support my work by considering becoming a Semiosis 101 free or paid subscriber.
